Worktop materials that won't stain with lemon or turmeric

Use a lot of both but in our cooking, drinks etc but i love light worktops. I'm thinking that they are out. I appreciate black granite may be an option - any other options for me to consider. Budget not an option this is my forever home and i've waited 20yrs for an amazing kitchen so don't want it to spoil!

A local kitchen showroom we visited mentioned a lady who was also concerned about turmeric and lemon. She chose a pale Quartz, after having ordered various samples and experimented with smearing food onto them. Loads of websites offer samples for a small charge - you can usually get up to three sent out in one order.

Oh good idea. I'll get some ordered and let my messy husband loose on them ;)

i pasted everything on my pale quartz sample before ordering - we have coco by compac which is very pale. barkeepers friend removes everything.,

We have pure white corian. Everything comes off with barkeeper's friend.

Curry pastes with turmeric in have been fine. But I'm not about to chuck a ton of turmeric on my work surfaces and leave for hours to test for you! If you can get a sample bit, give it a go. But Barkeepers friend has shifted carrot, tea, wine, kids indelible felt-tip pen, etc.

Our pale silestone has coped with all that has been thrown at it. Only point of caution is that the joins may be more susceptible to staining - so arrange them to be away from main prep places if you think it might be an issue.

I'm not sure that black granite copes too well with lemon juice Smile but can tell you that you need to try samples of anything you like the look of.
Splatter turmeric with oil & let it set overnight (coffee & tea also good to test) & see how easily it comes away the next day.
I have silestone, but found that a cheaper speckled pale silestone worked far better than the pure white. Other brands had some that worked better than others, & I was really happy with a speckled finish, so that I wasn't endlessly wiping it clean.

I have black granite with sparkly bits and I have spilt absolutely everything on it!

I cook curries. I spill wine. I slice lemons and forget about them till the morning. Nothing marks.

MrsFlorrick · 16/08/2015 00:29

Stainless steel. Copes with absolutely everything. Downside is cost. It's very expensive.

We've got pure white quartz (Samsung radianz), nothing's marked it in a whole year of not being careful at all with it. We cook a LOT of curries too.

White Silestone here.
I had a piece to test; coffee, lemon juice, red win, turmeric.
Ciff cream got it off.
