Making good after work done

Had an electrician fitting some new plug sockets and he pulled up carpets to do the work. He hasn't put them back properly so they look all frayed and not fitted against wall and also the metal dividers between the rooms and hallway carpet has been ripped away so there is now no join between both carpets. It looks a mess and I have tried and failed to sort it myself. Is this usual, or should he have put them back as they were?

I think it can be usual and something tot talk about upfront. I've had this with more than one trade with our recent renovation works and I was similarly surprised.

It was the first time I'd had this type of stuff done and naively assumed things would be left more or less as they were. Oh well, lesson learnt!

You probably need to get a carpet fitter in to refit those bits.

It is something you should clarify before the work is done.
Many tradesmen do plan to make good after
and many only aim to do the job they were directly employed for.

It also may be that those who quoted higher prices had allowed to do include this work ...
