Disposing of DIY waste in London - a byzantine affair

Before I have to resort to spending 150 plus on a wait and load/hippo bag/removal geezer is there any cheaper way to dispose of DIY waste in London? I recently lived in Southwark and had used the dump (sorry, recycling depot) and arranged council pick up for bulky furniture items. But having moved next door to Lewisham it is crazily restrictive. Dump will not take rubble/tiles/lino etc

There is Bromley (weighbridge, and will take too many trips and with nursery and school pickups too risky to drive there and get snared up in hideous traffic)

Other boroughs have numberplate recognition, demand address etc.

I have freecycled stuff (steel baths for example, packing boxes etc) and someone suggested doing it for rubble, but I’m unsure if it’s ‘good enough’

It makes me cry to pay 150-200 pounds to someone who will probably fly tip it!

Hire a skip instead?

sadly we are residents parking so on top of the cost of the skip it will be 100s. We are already paying 20 quid a day parking for the plumbers van!

Also, it's not quite a skip's worth. The wood and cardboard I can deal with, the bathroom items I have freecycled, it's the crappy tile and plasterboard in 20 bags (but HEAVY, previous owners had put 5 layers of tiles on top of one another! I literally gained a foot in width in the room, so I guess that's a payment in kind!

Typical story, take your leverage to the limit, underestimate costs of renovating etc etc

A couple of options of dubious morality.

Bag it all up and sneak it into your residential bin at a couple of bags a week, or whatever you think you can get away with.

Ask a friend who lives in a borough with a dump if you can borrow their car and a bill in their name.

And yes I've done both these things.

hahaha, I have done the trip with neighbour, but can't again as the guy who runs the dump knows me.

my husband rolled his eyes when I suggested bagging and
"amortising" it weekly! We actually had a real proper row about this (subtext: I'm a bit of a skinflint)
