What can you store in a tiny gap next to the cooker?

Was thinking a pull out towel rail but I'm not sure how safe that is.

And I haven't got a huge tray SadGrin

Space is probably about 12cm.

Kitchen on the way to being finished now - I still have to do upstand and tiling though and build another unit the other side of the cooker.

Carpenter didn't do any catches or painting etc and also didn't have time to do my alcove shelves so I've done those myself...not very tidy atm but gives you an idea!

Really really love the wooden units, they are hand built into the room and fit the wall which is a bit wobbly as it's an old house.

He is a young chap but did such a great job.
Worktop is B&Q cheapie (well fairly cheap).

Varying stages of progress!

Couple more - still messy! I'm washing up everything that's been in boxes since last year!

It looks lovely! The little gap might be a pain to clean though if you leave it open. Can the carpenter make a small panel that size? You might be able to hack ikea drawer runners to allow it to slide out.

I like the idea of the drawer runners Smile

I've hung an oven glove there now and it looks fine - I think I'll see how I get on with nothing in it!

Otherwise yes boxing it in would work well I think.

If you don't box it in you will probably need to hoover with the hose bit rather than just brush the floor as crumbs etc will migrate into that gap (voice of bitter experience) ...
I have a cordless hoover now (upright one with a separate hand held) bit I use but every so often I have to use the big hoover with a hose to clean the back of the gap...or pull out the appliance (in your case cooker).
Mine is next to an undercounter freezer and the only reason I haven't boxed it in is the current freezer (old but refusing to die!) is narrower than 'normal' when I replace it with a standard size it will fit in nicely with no gap
Current gap is handy to store a folding step ladder (we have super high cupboards - the little folding step thing I use most often fits in the under sink cupboard but isn't high enough to reach the back of the top cupboards) but for the amount of time I need it I could easily make a trip to the understairs cupboard...

Can I ask about the coloured sink? Never seen one before!

Good point Unlucky, I have got our little step in it atm and ds3 keeps getting it out to play with/stand on - I find it useful as now I have some shelves on the wall there are a few bits I can't reach without.

I have a hoover residing in the kitchen now and may well keep it there Smile it's very useful when sawing wood!!

The sink is an Astracast MSK100 but is old new stock - I got it from a local barn sort of place where they have odds and ends, just liked the colour, it's a granite composite and was £20 Grin

It was that or a stainless one and I thought if I didn't try it I'd never know!
