How do I sell un-needed quartz worktops?

Does nobody buy anything on Gumtree anymore? I used to sell everything there really fast. I've got 2 large bits of Silestone 102 x 135cm and I'm asking for a pittance for them just so they'll be removed from our garage.

I phoned the company we bought them from and was told that size would cost £1566.00.

Where else can I try? DH is threatening to throw them out!

MMm I have never tried e-bay. Looks complicated. We are in Kingston Upon Thames. These aren't second hand bits they are brand new. We had to get extra because of doing the futility room too. I don't think there is a Facebook for this area.

I second ebay. People sell entire second hand kitchens on it and granite tops are a massive draw. List it to end on a Sunday night, place an attractive starting price on it and specify collection only. You'll be amazed!! Good luck!

I second local FB page. Ours is manic! There are often rows about who replied first things are that popular. You will have your hand snapped off, I'm sure!

Would also suggest Ebay, when I was looking for our quartz for an island unit, I looked on Ebay.

If you sell on Ebay, make sure they pay the postage and packing heheh:-) Seriously though, Quartz is worth a small fortune so make sure you get a good price for it and get the buyer to pick it up.

Ramona - I've got it listed now but so far no interest. I'm finding it really strange as this is top of the range Silestone and brand new.

Maybe people think it's dodgy? Don't know what I can do about that. Seems such a waste to just dispose of it but it's taking up room. We'll probably have to pay someone to take it away - it's so heavy.

Try Freecycle - it will go within hours.

If it fails to sell, try contacting a local granite company. If the piece is long enough, they should be able to adapt it for a future job. A 2.5 meter piece of Quartz is at least £400.

Oh dear, so I've ventured on to Ebay and listed quite a few things. Ebay "suggested" starting amounts (which were very low) and I went along with that. People have started to bid on things however...

DH has just asked if I can decide not to sell if I don't get the sum I'm looking for. I assumed I could but I don't know!

What do I do? I've listed a £400 combination oven with a start point of £30 and people have bid up to £50 now. ( I would be looking for £200 as it's just over a year old)

Help!

You need to put a reserve price on them but you can't do that if people have already bid. If you really don't want to sell for less you better cancel the sale and relist.

Apologies for not getting back to you, Eva. DH pointed out to me that we wouldn't be able to lift your two pieces of quartz so he thinks it's best that we leave it.

Won't the supplier take them back? They could probably sell them on again for the full price.
