Pull out larders ~ yay or nay?

Are they a bit marmite? Reading on here I get very mixed views, but idk if those that like theirs have something in common with their design that makes them work well. Likewise, I'm wondering if those that dislike theirs have a reason for doing so that is specific to the particular design.

If you DONT like yours..what is it that goes wrong?

If you DO like yours...where Is It from?! Smile

Whole thing

I'd avoid pull out wire drawers - I was always finding things falling through the gaps, they were very annoying.

Love them. Mine was very sturdy though and not too wide.

Thankyou everyone for responding. It seems like the consensus is a resounding YAY, with the proviso that you get drawers that you can open separately rather than pull the whole thing out each time, which can get too heavy, unwieldy, etc.

oh yes.. the width thing is important too. Optimum width is really rather narrow. 50.. or less?

I have to pull my whole larder out, but it is very sturdy and not too heavy at 30cm wide. I think individual drawers would be good too. I just want you to know that I have had no trouble after seven years of hard use on a wire style pull out.

With the 37cm deep gap, you don't need pull outs - you will be fine with shelves as nothing will get lost at the back. You could have even narrower (20cm) shelves higher up with spice racks on the back of the doors.

Thankyou hayfever and Steam, all this is super helpful. I've never had anything more complex than a cupboard with a door on it , before now! Really looking forward to having efficient storage and freeing up more space.

I'm with RaisingSteam that individual drawers are better than one big pull out.

I love mine. It's at the end of a range of units, against the wall, and the (wire) shelves sort of swing out - there are some attached to the door and them the others move out as the door opens iyswim.
We've also got a standard larder cupboard with fixed shelves. It doesn't hold as much as the pull out one, plus it's really hard to see what's at the back of the shelves.
