Any house alarm experts around?

Sorry can't do paragraphs on my phone... Any ideas truly appreciated... We moved into our house in September and have never known the alarm code, and never planned to use it because of our big dog. So it's been ignored completely, until this morning a power cut has set off a constant high pitched noise, not that loud but very annoying. We've had power cuts in the past with no problems. The TPR light is flashing and it's an Intellisense alarm, C023-203 is the only number I can see on it, not sure if this is a model? Thank you.

They have a battery so they won't go off when there is a power cut. Battery must be dead by now, so it's gone off this time.

Not much you can do, they usually go for 20 mins or go.
There should be a phone number on the panel, ring it and arrange for a check up and new battery later.

Thank you, that's pretty much what I expected, was hoping we might get away with doing something ourselves but never mind.

Or look for the power supply. It will probably be a fused switch on the wall, near the control panel. If you turn it off, or remove the 3A fuse, it will stop re-charging the standby battery. The noise you describe is probably not a siren, but a tone to alert you that it has lost power. In which case it may last about 8 hours.

If it is a Honeywell it should be familiar to most alarm engineers. The power supply will be by the big metal box, which is probably light grey and may be under the stairs, in the garage, or otherwise hidden away.

Thanks piglet, sorry for late reply, been out most of the day. It did eventually stop on its own but only after a few hours, so I'll look at the manual and check your other advice in case it happens again. Or possibly get an engineer to deal with it properly.
