Rough idea of hardwiring an oven in?

Current oven is on a plug and I'm looking at ordering a new one which needs hardwiring.

Dh is thinking about doing it himself. He's an electrical engineer and can wire up power stations no problem. However because he's not a domestic type electrician he legally isn't allowed to wire up our oven.

So I understand there may be problems down the line if we want to sell the house, so was thinking of getting it done properly. But if its going to be £100s it may make the oven too expensive.

I think any work in kitchen and bathrooms needs an electrical certificate, so wise to get it done properly. We had this done when we refitted a kitchen and it cost £50. The kitchen fitter had dug out the wall for the cable, so it wasnt even an hours work.

Regs changed last year - you no longer need 17th Ed qualifications for domestic settings. Still, if you're at all unsure I'd get a man in to do it. New cookers don't always come with the cable (in my recent experience).
