From where to get the fixing accessories ? Do you get it from IKEA or from places like B&Q.

and how do you fix itto wall. Is it simple or should i get someone to do it. Any help with instructions, links really appreciated.

Mine came with the attachments for fixing it to the wall. When I bought the frame .

mum2015 · 01/06/2015 10:32

Thanks babyiwantabump. Did you need anything else to fix them?

Depends a bit on the depth of your skirting board as to whether the ikea supplied attachments work. But they will give you a starting point as to what to get from a hardware shop or shed, if your skirting boards are deep.

If you load the heavy stuff at the bottom of the wardrobe then wall fixing is pretty much not needed. Have had pax for years & children at home. Never fixed it to the wall as its too heavy to budge anyways!

We do have skirting board and dado rail like thing on wall. I will check what will come with PAX.

I am going to order 236 cm shallow wardrobes and mirror doors and it will be on carpet so I am thinking we need to fix them to wall. I once had a deep 200cm PAX and it didnt fall, though sometimes wobbled a bit.

On carpets, PAX seems to sink really deep...almost immovably set in stone kind. I doubt if it would need fixing. I have the shallow one too.

Billy bookcase on the other hand is really wobbly!!

mum2015 · 02/06/2015 14:56

Thanks Artistic. I am hoping either we dont need to fix them or do it ourself. I am really looking forward to all the PAX and interior organizers and DH isnt looking forward to assembling them.

We fixed ours with mega long screws from B&Q because I left a radiator on the wall behind them so they're out about 5cm or so.

Pax are lovely...so much storage! Enjoy!

Mum2015 - just a piece of advice from my experience - when building pax, if your core unit is a long / large one then do place it correctly in the accurate location before you start building. They are quite heavy & once they sink in the carpet they are difficult to move. Even our movers struggled to move them 1 foot along once they set it down so we had to leave it rather than move it to its 'optimal' spot. Lesson learnt the hard way.

We have the extra high Pax in 3 bedrooms, with little kids climbing them etc. never fixed to the wall and seem more than stable enough in the hard floors as well as the carpeted ones. If you have more than one unit then join them together, there are screws included to do this. You just have to drill through one of the internal fitting holes and bolt them together. Ours felt much more solid when we did this.

mum2015 · 03/06/2015 12:07

Thanks dear. I am going to fit them in L shape in one room and a sliding door one in the other room. Good tip about starting them at right place itself and bolting them together.

Anyone has used Ikea pick and delivery? I think I and hubby wont be able to carry so many frames and doors to checkout ourself so thinking about pick and delivery.

We attached ours using the ikea supplied fixings but our skirting was quite deep so we have had to add a spacer piece of wood behind to secure it all

Elvish · 03/06/2015 13:03

I've not used the pick and delivery, but I have stood in the car park trying and failing to get everything into the car. We ended up having stuff delivered and so I think for the little bit extra you pay to have it picked as well I would go for it.

Check the prices as I think they might charge per item or number of items, so it might be worth going and picking yourself and bringing the smaller items home.

When we've had deliveries the first time they took everything upstairs to the right room, but the second time they wouldn't and we had to carry it upstairs on our own - I'd say it's worth asking but be prepared to take everything from the hall/doorway yourself.

mum2015 · 03/06/2015 14:11

Thanks Elvish. I have used their home delivery twice but going to use pick and delivery for first time. I am specially concerned about the mirror doors. My place is on ground floor but it would be just me and DH. Still thinking whether to hire a man and van or go for pick and delivery.

The delivered and carried mine upstairs. DH said to put them in the garage but I didn't fancy helping him carry them up the stairs :)

We LOL at this picture of them delivering the wardrobes :)

We have been in store and then collected them off the shelf and wheeled it round to home delivery. We live a couple of miles away and have in the past just loaded them into the car but this was a 4m run of Pax for the children's playroom. Too heavy for the car.

Do not put the doors on until they are in position as they are heavy although I am more than capable of moving double ones myself.

We have never fitted them to the walls, the 4m run is just bolted together with the connector bolts provided. On carpet be aware of the carpet gripper potentially tilting the wardrobe forward. They have feet at the front to help tip them into a horizontal position. Make sure they are all the way up when you are moving the wardrobe and lower them when in position otherwise they will tear off.

You could use long screws to attach them to the wall as they have metal L brackets in the top corners of the wardrobes which would be an anchor point.

I have a lot of pax, 12 singles and 6 doubles, had some 15 years. Changed out the interiors lots depending on what we needed them for. A fantastic product.

@TheUnwillingNarcheska,

thanks for tips.

People get excited about getting new wardrobe(new set of clothes) and I am all excited about new set of empty wardrobes Blush
