Kitchen dilemma! Benchmarx, Howdens, Sheraton??

We are planning a new kitchen and are arranging for planners to come out from Howdens and Benchmarx but I have now seen a similar kitchen by Sheraton (gloss with a concealed handle). I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on these that would help us decide. At the moment my head is in a whirl!

I have been recommend benchmark as we nee to start arranging ours. (Also magnet) I didn't know they came out to you...that could be very handy instead of palming the children off to in laws whilst we try and shop around. Is this a free service?

Yes, it's a free service.

Not answering your question I know but I started with Howdens / Benchmark and got a plan off them but I wasn't 100% sure of the quality given the price (I have a benchmark kitchen at the moment). I ended with diy-kitchens (they do some gloss handless kitchens) but the downside is that you have to input all the units yourself - it's pretty straightforward though and someone checks it when you place the order for obvious mistakes. Another downside is that Delivery can be expensive (£250) if you want to choose a specific date and also get them to unload. To give you an example, it took about 20 mins for me to input an 18 unit kitchen and associated pelmets, cornices, etc. Once you have the units in there, it's easy to change colours / kitchen range without having to re-input the units again.

My Benchmark / Howdens estimate dropped from £10k to £7k with diy kitchens for what I consider to be a better product (I got a sample doors sent through to check quality). I'm just about to order to take advantage of a sale that they're running at the moment so I can't truthfully give you a complete review but what I can say is that they've been excellent on pre-sales questions so far. I also read their reviews on Trust Pilot which also seem pretty positive. They have a showroom in Yorkshire so if you're up that way, you can pay them a visit (too for for me to make the journey)

Thanks I'll have a look at Trust Pilot.

I also changed my mind from Benchmarx to DIY kitchens. I've ordered but they aren't coming til mid June. I didn't have a comparable quote from benchmarx but I reckon I've saved quite a lot. Small galley kitchen though so not too complicated! They do Second Nature doors which are meant to be good quality too.

Thanks DIY kitchens look good, my dilemma is getting worse! Although I think I would worry about ordering it myself rather than through a planner.

Benchmarx kitchens are the same as Wickes. If you go to Wickes they will send a kitchen designer out to chat over ideas with you, then take measurements and then go away and design a plan for you, all of which is no obligation. Benchmarx are supposed to be cheaper because of supplying to trade direct but Wickes have loads of offers and if you haggle or play hard to get they will probably do you a deal, making them cheaper in the long run. I couldn't fault the quality of the units I bought from them, very solid compared to howdens etc

As loumate666 said, with diy kitchens the quality of the units is great and the price is better than you'll get elsewhere. Don't forget to factor the door fittings charge in as well. It does sound like a lot of individual charges but at least you can see what each bit costs. Add them all up and they are still way cheaper and it looks like they have a sale on until Thursday. www.diy-kitchens.com/kitchen-sales/
