Tips for laying a vinyl floor, especially cutting round the loo and sink!

I'm finally tackling this tomorrow after a couple of months of living with the previous owners ancient carpet in the bathroom. It's a long-term temporary fix as we will get the bathroom re-done but probably in a couple of years as its the most bearable room in the house so will be done last.

It's an off-cut on a roll and is 6ftx6ft. The floor space in the bathroom is only 6ftx4ft.

Need to cut out to fit round sink pedestal and toilet, other than that it's just a square.

Any must do's or must don'ts greatly appreciated!

I'm late to the party and you've already done it but when I've done this I've always started by laying the new flooring outside, putting the old flooring on top of it and using it as a template. It's important to check that what you're taking out does actually fit so that you're not replicating a bodge job.

I would probably have lifted the loo too so I didn't need to cut round. But I hate laying floors and don't mind plumbing at all.

Thanks guys! Yes I've already done it and I wish I'd thought of laying The old carpet on top to cut round! But to be honest it wasn't too bad, cutting the boards was much harder than the vinyl.

It looks so lovely I'm very proud of myself. Just need to put some mastic round the edges to keep the water out but that job is being done next weekend at the same time as re-doing the bath, when DS is staying at nanny's.

I LOVE DIY!
