Has anyone made Roman blinds?

Are they difficult to make?

Would like to make some but can't find an online tutorial that looks really details and written for dummies. Have read a few and get scared off by the different ways of doing the top and wondering if I've bitten off more than I can chew.

I have a sewing machine and like sewing but I have no technical skill, just a 'feel' as I do things ie I make it up as I go along and usually it's kind of ok by the end.

Any advice gratefully received.

I sort of did some - I ironed on new fabric onto a cheap IKEA one ! Was easier than starting from scratch as sewing isn't my forte !!

What a genius idea! Only issue is ive been to ikea last week and it's not near here so won't go again for ages.

I have made them by following this You Tube Video.

If you order a kit from Terry's blinds, they have quite clear instructions to follow. I thought it was fairly easy. I'm a sewing novice and I made one that I'm pleased with!

The Roman blind kits looks like a great idea, but I want brass circle things in the back if mine not plastic as ice read plastic ones degrade in the sun and also I want it pull cord not the metal edge like a roller blind (I'm fussy clearly Grin . Maybe I'll google roller blind kit and see if anywhere does any that might work.

Thanks for the video, will watch later.

Yes, I think these instructions are quite good and relatively easy to follow.

If you buy the tape, it is very easy. My top tip for your first blind is to use stripey fabric (vertical stripes) and try for a fairly narrow window (I did my hall and landing windows which were only about 40cm wide). The keys is getting is very square - buy a large set square which will help ensure the sides / top / bottom are at right angles. The stripey fabric makes it easy to ensure your sides are perfect.
