Full insurance for empty property

We have bought a house that we are going to do major renovations once we have our building warrant. My problem is I can't seem to find insurance that will cover the property for theft. The property will be unoccupied until the work is finished and this seems to be the sticking point. Does anyone know of a company that will fully insure an unoccupied property that is being renovated? Thanks.

if the renovations leave holes in the walls, you do have a problem. Otherwise you should be able to get cover for 2 or 3 months.

(if anyone is wondering why an empty house needs theft cover, it is because of all that lovely copper pipework, boiler and so on)

Most normal insurance companies won't insure. We had to go through a broker, it also costs more to insure an empty property. Have a look at these links.

We had luck with Renovation Plan. They were the only ones to offer full cover without a ridiculous level of detail (e.g.strata reports from engineer). Not. Cheap. Though.

We used renovation plan too. Managed to get a year covered. If your work finishes before end of that period you can convert to standard insurance. We did pay through the nose for it.

Thank you I will have a look at links and renovation plan.

I used Coversure to insure an empty property when my mum was in care but don't know if that would include renovation.
