Bugger, external plaster has blown, house was due to be painted next week. Is this going to cost loads to fix?

Scaffolders managed to, put a hole in the plaster of the side extension. I phoned the company and someone higher up who I have been dealing with came to look at the damage.

Basically the plaster on the extension wasn't done properly around the windows, water has been getting in and it has blown the plaster. There is a bit that bulges out (I hadn't noticed before) and the scaffold went through it and we now have a hole. The bloke showed me where the plaster is all crumbling to the touch. Loads of it needs to come off and be redone. He looked down the side at the other 2 windows and they have the same issue but it hasn't blown yet.

We only bought this house 7 months ago and we have found botch job after botch job so needless to say we are unimpressed at this costing us yet more money. Nothing was mentioned on the survey although now we can see the windows haven't been sealed on the outside and the windows in the extension (which was done 8 years ago) are not done very well wrt the external plastering.

The house was due to be painted next week, hence the scaffolding so I am hoping this can continue as the original house is fine and some of the extension but it's from about halfway down the window that will need to come off and be redone on the front bit and around 2 small side windows. The French doors could do with it as well as these were very badly fitted and DH has patched it up but it isn't done properly.

Is this likely to be something that is going to cost us loads? Given other stuff we have had done, we have hardly anything left now so I am worrying a bit.

Oh and is it something we could claim on our buildings insurance for?
