Taylor Wimpey Homes

I am thinking about buying a new Taylor Wimpey home on a new development, there's no show home yet so I have questions that the web site doesn't answer.

I wondered if anyone had bought a home and had any recommendations?
Plus we really want to know if you have too have one of their kitchens , we have seen one we really like.

Based on my previous experience with them (new build) I'd not go near them again...sorry.

No experience of TW but I wouldn't go near a mass build housing developer. We have a 70s house built by Lovells and the build quality is shocking.

We are in a TW that was new build 10 years ago and we've been about 90% pleased with it. No major complaints about the house itself, we've put in some windows they should have thought about in the top rooms, and we've got quite a big garden but their appliances (Electrolux) didn't last that well and the tiling is now all very dated looking but that aside, it's a good house

Wouldn't take to much notice of a show home anyway as they are generally made to look better anyway, you would want to look at a standard house completed on the site to gauge the quality and finish. Very unlikely you will be able to choose a kitchen from another supplier, however if your a the right stage you will most likely be able to choose from styles the have available for the site and upgrade if you want. There has always been poor quality housing built on mass, I.e a lot of Victorian were thrown up, 1930s house got the nick name gerrie built house after the was due to poor quality, and a lot of 1960s pre fab properties were poor. So as long as you don't rush in and do a bit of initial research I'm sure you will be fine.

Always measure furniture - they often fit purpose built 'mini' furniture to make it look bigger

i was just going to post caroldeckers post.
There are far better houses that aren't so old where you can fit real furniture in.
they are like little rabbit hutches.

Wow thank you for the advice, bit of a pain in the butt about the kitchen. Really we just want the shell. We have a lot of stuff already like the appliances, radiators and even a shower! My parent were renovating a house but decided to sell it instead.
