Replacing a toilet

How easy/hard is it to replace a toilet?

There's no problems, it's just the one in our house is one of those ones where everything is concealed from view - good idea except that it's stuck in a tiny alcove with no access meaning that to even tighten the (very wobbly) seat the whole bloody thing will need to come out. We need to sort the wobble as our toddler will be toilet training soon so we decided we may as well just replace it with a standard toilet more suitable for the space rather than refitting the stupidly designed one.

We can't really afford to pay anyone right now and neither of our dads are nearby but both dads feel it's a simple job we should do ourselves - are they right?! Is my husband going to end up up to his elbows in shit and leave us toiletless?!

You won't be up to your elbows in crap if you flush the toilet first. Maybe a good idea to bleach it a few times first so its clean before you start playing with it. But its a very very simple job if you approach it with some common sense.

Don't forget to turn off the water.

Plenty of online guides, if your not replacing the cistern and the waste outlet is similar on the new toilet, there will be no plumbing whatsoever. if you can use a spanner then you're half way there.
