Anyone painted a plywood floor?

We've recently had our downstairs cloakroom redone but left the floor for now as we are planning (eventually) to lay (possibly Karndean) flooring throughout the hall/kitchen downstairs. At the moment we have just have plywood down in the downstairs cloakroom. I wondered about painting this until we get the flooring we ultimately want, there seems to be quite a few people out there who have done this judging by the online tutorials available but I wanted to hear from someone who perhaps has done this and/or can give me some tips about preparation and products (the tutorials all seem to talk about US products and I'm not sure of the equivalents in the UK). Thanks!

no, but I have dyed and varnished one, using Colron wood dye and Diamond satin floor varnish. With a steady hand and a long rule you can dye it to resemble planks.

Flooring ply comes in a couple of grades, it is usually quite rough and knotty, which would not do if you could see it.

If you get a hardwood faced grade, it is quite smooth.

Flooring paint is available, it is a bit specialist, IIRC International make some. Make sure you get a grade suitable for wood, not one intended for concrete floors, and follow the maker's directions.

The top layer of veneer on ply is much thinner than on engineered flooring, so it will wear away quicker.
