kitchen colourings

Well it seems I am not the only one stressing over what to do about my new kitchen due to be installed in 4 weeks and still haven't chosen worktops and flooring!
The cabinets are high white gloss, I found a wood effect floor tile that I really love, B&Q Algero, but cannot find a Corian colour to suit them!
So have, I think, decided to have Corian Dove (Light Grey with very slight speckle in it) worktop but now do not know what to put on the floor??? Do i choose a light grey tile, a dark grey tile I really do not know and have got to the stage of ripping my hair out. I am having a black glass splashback and black glass hob, stainless steel extractor.
If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it, tried to cancel the whole project, it is so hard to do, but couldn't get a refund!

It sounds lovely! We made a massive mistake on our flooring. We chose a slate effect tile, with dark grout. It has never, ever looked clean. We do have a dog, which adds extra diet, but I think it's the matt and rough surface of the tile that is impossible to clean. I've had it professionally cleaned once in the year we've had it and it looked nice after that... For a day or so.

Asleep: I'm actually looking at slate or concrete effect laminate at the moment for our kitchen. Need to hurry up as work starting in just under 3 weeks. I was assuming that laminate would be easy to clean.

What colour tile did yo go for? Do you mind me asking the colour scheme of your units?

Asleeponasunbeam · 17/04/2015 11:25

Laminate would be much easier to clean!
We have off white units and charcoal granite-effect worktops.

The wood effect floor tile sounds great though - are you sure none of the surfaces go well with it?

Hi Asleeponasunbeam,Thanks for your comments. So the advice is stay well clear of dark grey flooring!
I am so cheesed off with the whole thing, absolutely so wanted the wood effect tiles, which are fairly light coloured, just wrong colour tone for the Corian colours available unless I go for a very dark corian top which I don't think works with the black hob and splashback.
If you knew how many "Google images" I have been through, trying to see something that works for me. The other option is to go for white worktops but that just seems to boring!

I also think that the wood effect floor sounds like it will go well. It will lend warmth to the White and grey.

I have the opposite concrrn. I am getting grey gloss units and wood work tops. I really like the stone/slate/concrete effect laminate (kids and animals and no underfloor heating rules out the real thing) but I'm worried will be too much grey.

I've got white gloss units with walnut laminate flooring and walnut worktops & matching upstands -with black glassback and black glass hob,etc like u describe . I wasnt sure with the walnut being dark, against the black applicances etc, but with the rest of the kitchen painted white is does look fab- We have recently painted between the wall and base units and now that wall is dark grey but it really looks nice - the walnut colour warms the room and makes it looks more expensive than it actually cost!
