Rightmove/Zoopla/Onthemarket etc

So the creation of Onthemarket and edict that agents can't list with them as well as Zoopla AND Rightmove means that some agents are with Zoopla and Rightmove and others are on Rightmove only (and Onthemarket, but that doesn't count cos it's shite Grin)...

How important is Zoopla? Trying to work out whether it's an important consideration when choosing an agent... As a potential buyer, I go to Zoopla first but I'd also see properties on Rightmove. I find Z easier to use though.

Very interested to hear others' thoughts, both buyers and sellers.

I am currently looking to buy and primarily use Zoopla because it has more search parameters. Still check Rightmove occasionally. Never been on that other one.

Thanks mmmuffins, that pretty much confirms my feelings.

Interested to hear others still though!

I found mine on rightmove, but then obsessively checked on zoopla every day to see how many people had viewed it.

bilbodog · 15/04/2015 18:03

Hi - I always use Rightmove - don't find Zoopla so easy myself. I understand that a lot of London people use Zoopla more for some reason. I don't think I would bother with 'on the market' as it is new and everything that is on there will generally get put on Rightmove eventually anyway. Sometimes too much choice is no choice as it gets too confusing....................

roslet · 15/04/2015 18:11

I've noticed that some smaller agents don't use Zoopla at all. The property that I've had an offer accepted on was only on Rightmove. I like Zoopla for seeing what has just come onto the market, but I'm glad that I was also looking on Rightmove, which for some reason I prefer anyway.

RebeccaCloud9 · 15/04/2015 18:57

From my experience, right move has lots more properties on. I have often looked on zoopla and noticed that several houses weren't on there. Also, I love the draw area feature on right move. And the sold prices section is easier to use on right move. I have browsed on the market a few times but don't use it as my main site.

RebeccaCloud9 · 15/04/2015 18:58

Home.co.uk is useful for their graphs which show house price changes.

I prefer RM personally and always tend to search there first.....but I will still check Zoopla too and agree that they have better search parameters, there's just something (can't put my finger in what exactly) I don't like about it. Agree that 'sold' properties are easier to search for on RM, although often you can find more historic info on Zoopla. Have looked at OTM twice I think....seemed pointless as very little listed....

hairhelpplease · 16/04/2015 16:57

Right move have something like 90 million hits and nearly 1 million properties. Zoopla are something like 20 million hits with half a million properties. OTM have 300000 properties and hits are not really apparent just yet

JonathanRolande1 · 16/04/2015 17:15

It’s going to take a while for OTM to gain ground so for now at least, Zoopla and Rightmove are king.

Rockdoctor · 16/04/2015 20:02

I was told that if you are in London or trying to attract London based buyers then you need to be on Zoopla - although that was from an agent Wink

BlackbirdOnTheWire · 16/04/2015 21:51

Thanks all. Yes, funny that you hear different views from different agents! Grin.

I should have made it clearer - I didn't mean to compare RM with Zoopla, but, assuming that all properties are listed on RM, how important is it that they are ALSO listed on Zoopla (we're London)? I can't help but feel that "RM & Z" have a definite advantage over "RM & OtM" but wondered if it was personal bias creeping in and in fact if it's listed on RM, doesn't really matter whether it's listed anywhere else too... Really helpful to hear others' views esp as it does sound like there's a London bias!

We were on Rightmove, Zoopla and Prime Location with our online agent. ALL our viewings came through Rightmove. Zone 3 London, took 4 weeks ish to go under offer which seemed like an age but that's the market at the mo I think.

As a buyer, I just go on Rightmove, as if they are on there then they are always on the other 2 too.

Haven't looked at OnTheMarket.
