Are my neighbours going to move?

Short version. I live in a semi. Neighbours are awful. I hear them argue constantly and one of the things I have heard, is them discussing/arguing about moving. I keep hoping they will.

Their house and garden is a bit of a tip but more recently they have started to take care of things. They have spruced up the garden and bought a hanging basket and pressure washed the drive. I know only small things but they NEVER do anything round the house usually. I am hoping they are about to market the house, however before Xmas they also had a new CH boiler in which maybe isn't something you would do.

I don't want to get my hopes up. What do you think?

Crystal ball says yes.

hmm, i get your point about if they were moving then why would they install a new boiler.

i will guess yes, they will move but wonder what you heard in the discussion/argument about moving? Did you hear them agree on a move?

fluffygreentail · 13/04/2015 11:31

Hope its not us btw, we are in a semi, constantly talking about moving and have done some tidying in front and rear garden last week! Dont think we argue though, more a lively discussion but that may be misconstrued by someone listening to us through the adjoining walls unless they were talking outside or with windows open.

If the previous boiler completely zonked out they would have had no option but to replace it. It's looking good I think.

Asleeponasunbeam · 13/04/2015 11:53

I bet they are! We're just about to put our house on the market and are doing lots of chucking out, cleaning, sprucing up. It looks so nice, we almost want to stay!

Haven't told our neighbours yet but DD is constantly talking about it at the top of her voice.

Not us as we haven't been arguing!

SprungHasSpring · 13/04/2015 12:06

Sounds promising.

Maybe they're planning to rent it out if they got a new boiler?

Lagoonablue · 13/04/2015 14:27

I will keep an eye on Rightmove and update.

Definitely loud, raucous rows so probably not anyone on here.

I don't want to put a downer on your dreams but please don't get too excited...our (nightmare) neighbours spruced up their place too (took exterior Xmas dec's down in May, picked the used nappies up from front garden etc) and then the estate agent's board went up. My DCs did a little dance when they saw it and we were ecstatic when the sold sign went up a day or two later. Fast forward 2 years and they are still here. They lost the house they were after, gave up and everything went back to rack and ruin within a couple of months...gutting.

Rinkydinkypink · 13/04/2015 20:08

I'm with celeriac. It's very common for folks to make their house better to live in if they have no choice but to stay.

Also common for people to take pride in their home and fall back in love with it.

Also common for people to spruce up in time for a sale.

Who knows!

Coumarin · 14/04/2015 04:32

I'm going to place a bet on no. I think one of them is against moving, hence the rowing, and they've 'won'. So the other one trying to make the best of it and improving the house they're in. It's possible that the reason nothing was ever done before was because the unsettled one didn't feel at home enough to care or want to do anything to the house.

Or they're moving.Grin In which case you'll find out very soon.
