What else do I need!!

I'd move in first, unpack, then see what you need!

Both my kids liked their trofasts though, the ones that are like steps are good cos you can put more baskets on the lower 'step'.

this shape is handier

In my dd's room she has the low end by her bed and uses that bit as a bedside locker, and my son uses his to step up on to his high sleeper as the ladder is like an implement of torture so we detached it.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/04/2015 09:31

Trofast is good for kids toys
If you have a baby - the Antilop highchair
The sandwich bags (buy a good few boxes, they are so strong, I use mine for jigsaws, lego, etc as well as food)
The giant blue bags at the end to take your shopping home in are great for laundry at home
The 365+ kitchen knives are the best ive ever had and they are still going strong four years later (hung up, in a sort of blue plastic packaging)
They do really nice paper napkins (nice as in quality and patterns)

slithytove · 12/04/2015 09:32

Kids plastic plates bowls and cutlery
Scissors multi packs
Wooden chopping board
Dish brush with sticky thing on end
Copious loo brushes

Justyouwaitandsee · 12/04/2015 09:34

Their pots and pans are great (non stick saucepans, wok etc)

mandy214 · 12/04/2015 09:48

Hot dog Wink?!

Drawer liners for your kitchen drawers (kind of thick plastic matting) Children's flexible lights that attach to the bed frame
Little stand on step (white plastic with blue dots on the top) if you have children wanting to reach up to bathroom sink
Stools (plastic - range of colours) think they're ridiculously priced like £1 but we have about 8 that we stack under a table
Little steel bar (think it is the kitchen section) with plastic type cups / tubs that hand off it. We have them above the children's desks and they store all their pens crap in them.

HoldenCaulfield80 · 12/04/2015 09:49

The malm drawers are great for storage. And regardless of what you go in for, you'll come out with some tealight candles Grin

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/04/2015 12:38

Those cheese grater boxes are good, as is their apple cutter/segmentor.

wobblebobblehat · 12/04/2015 13:10

Successful buys for us....
Cheese grater
Clips for food bags
Hemnes shoe cabinet
Marius stool
Giant blue bags

Higgle · 13/04/2015 16:50

£1 washing up brushes and the 48p (?) loo brushes, they last quite a long time and you can replace them weekly if you are one of those fussy anti-loo brush types.

RedCrayons · 13/04/2015 16:53

It's illegal to leave ikea without tea lights and an ice cream/hot dog.

Don't take the DCs.

The kids step to have in the bathroom

IUseAnyName · 13/04/2015 18:09

Spaghetti Meatballs :)

BuzzardBird · 13/04/2015 18:17

Dime bars.
Really handy napkin holders (and napkins)
Cutlery drawers.
A plant that will die before you get off the carpark.
Tealights.
A tabletop ironing board (which you can send to me)
Wine glasses.
Duvet sets that come with 4 matching pillow cases instead of 2.
Small lamps and big lamps that won't fit in your car.
A handful of those pencils for DH's golf.
A couple of those tape measures.
Another bloody cuddly toy.
Meatballs and chips, not forgetting meatball sauce from shop on way out.
Serving dishes.
Something random that you are not sure what it does.

Think I have covered it all?

ICantDecideOnAUsername · 13/04/2015 18:36

It doesn't matter what you go there for, you will come back with twice the amount of stuff.
We always time our visit with lunch and stop at the cafe for Swedish meatballs (with sauce and gravy) and dime cake. Yummy.
I feel another visit coming on, it's been a while....

MrsAukerman · 13/04/2015 18:40

Their baby sleeping bags and muslins are great.
The metal bars for hanging pots from double up as useful tie / scarf storage on the backs of wardrobe doors.

wavingfuriously · 13/04/2015 18:43

found their Iron rest very useful !
and meatballs as everyone else says !

iamhopeful · 13/04/2015 18:48

We are planning a trip to IKEA for baby no. 2 soon but now I want to go today!

Oodear · 13/04/2015 18:51

I want to go now.
You need tea lights, batteries, blue bags, energy bulbs, those glasses that everyone in the world has and plastic kids plates and bowls ( that everyone with children has)

wavingfuriously · 13/04/2015 18:54

aha has anyone used the IKEA saucepans for their induction hob and if so, what were they like ?
thanksSmile

hereandtherex · 13/04/2015 19:29

Vegetarian seaweed caviar.

Rest of the stuff you'll just pick up.

If Ikea is near, I would suggest doing multiple trips for different things:

  1. Big furniture. Browse the mag + circle. Go there a see what its like. Put an online order for loads and get the to deliver. You'll need to take the day off.

  2. Plates, kitchen + odds and sods.

  3. Misc odds + sods.

hereandtherex · 13/04/2015 19:30

I looked atthe ikea pots + pans - Im going tp get an induction + some new pans soon. They do indicate induction OK.

I was pleasantly suprised by the quality on some of the more expensive (for Ikea) stuff.

hereandtherex · 13/04/2015 19:31

Yes on blue bags. Ive nipped in for a couple of forks - kids like the food - and come away with 10 bags. My mum loves them.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 13/04/2015 19:42

All kinds for babies/toddlers! And the duvet sets are great. Unusual garish designs and 4 matching pillow cases instead of two. Also love the ribba picture frames.

KaputKiss · 13/04/2015 19:48

We moved recently.

For dd1 (11) we got try brimnes bed with two mattresses (great for when we have guests). She also has the micke desk with add on shelf and a Kallax unit with drawers and storage boxes.

For Ds' room we got the wooden mydal bunk bed (plus two more mattresses) and trofast storage.

Dd2 has kallax storage under her midsleeper bed and tall malm drawers as her room is a bit smaller.

For other rooms and the hallway I bought a kallax unit with the expensive rattan baskets and some shelf ledges

KaputKiss · 13/04/2015 19:49

Posted too soon!

Basically have spent money on lots of storage and it has been well worth it! We also managed to grab some bargains on gumtree.
