GRP of Sarnafil flat roof??

Hello - just asking advice on behalf of my elderly neighbour. He is having a kitchen extension built which will mirror ours done last year. We had a pitched roof but he is having a flat one for various reasons.

The architect has specified Sarnafil but the builder has quoted for GRP (which he can do himself - will need to subcontract Sarnafil for extra cost). Should he pay extra for Sarnafil or is GRP as good/better? Thanks!

Hopeful bump...

We have had Sarnafil on our flat roof for around 12 years now. It was professionally applied, and is holding up well. It needs to be cleaned (it is actually well overdue) but looks good.

I don't know what GRP is, but would happily recommend Sarnafil, although I think the contractor is a key part of the success! Smile

I'd go with Sarnafil - if applied by approved contractor it should have a decent guarantee.

Thank you both for the Sarnafil recommendations Smile

Anyone able to recommend GRP? Thanks.

Think GRP is basically fibreglass...

We did ours in GRP, husbands choice and one he always recomends (has a building company). Low maintance and should last for years and years if done properly.
Not all builders can do it though!

Thanks! I think he will probably go with GRP as the builder can do that himself rather than sub-contract it.
