budget bathroom fitting - any plumbers out there?

What would a ball park figure for a small bathroom be? Nothing fancy, just a basic suite with an electric shower over the bath. I've got the costs for the suite but they can't quote for fitting until I've placed the order

No idea but I'm hoping to do the same in a few weeks.

about3.5k including fitting and tiling if nothing is too fancy

Just to install, no decorating? Are they taking old stuff out? How are the pipes?

Just had plumbers take out old and install new sink, WC, bath/shower & radiator in a small bathroom and it was £1500. However our pipework was ANCIENT so it was more of a faff than it could've been, plus they had to fit a new stopcock. So I'd think if you're more straightforward it could be less.

If you're adding tiling/plastering etc it'll be quite a lot more I'd have thought.

They'd have to take out the old stuff and fit the new stuff, I've got no idea of the state of the pipes. We don't want to have to have the room retiled unless it absolutely necessary but I expect it will be needed, though it's only half tiled so I can paint the top half of the room, last time I did it it only took me 1/2 an hour as the room is so small.

Shirleybassey is that 3.5k on top of the cost of the suite? If so, then it's way out of our budget.

Go on rated people and get quotes - I would personally do most of that myself, but you should allow at least £500 for fitting the shower, possibly more if it needs rewiring back to the consumer unit, and it has to be done by a part p qualified person. If you could take out the old stuff at least, that would bring it down. Tiling is easy too, just go slow.

Are you keeping the same floor and tiles?

I bought everything myself by shopping around and finding the cheapest of each thing I wanted rather than buying it all from one big retailer, and then had new sinks and showers put in two bathrooms (we kept the old toilet and bath)plus flooring and tiling and fitting new lights, and I found a builder who did it all for me for under £1500, and it cost me around £500 for all the bits and pieces so I was very happy with the price.

I got lots of quotes first and they ranged form a couple of grand up to 17 grand, it makes no sense.

Yes, the same tiles. If the floor has to be redone I'll do that myself afterwards. I'll have a look at rated people, thanks.

no that's all in, all fittings and labour -less if not floor.
Husband does this for a living

I've just paid a local plumber £200 to rip out the old suite and fit a new one. Suite cost me under £300 including taps and waste. I've just bought tiles for £50 including grout/adhesive and a local bloke is tiling for me for £40. Vinyl for the floor has cost £18 and I'm fitting that myself, plus fitting new skirting board (£20) and doing the painting myself. So whole thing will have cost about £700 in total!
