Are extractor hoods a pig to clean?

We want something that is as easy maintenance as possible. Currently have an integrated hood and contemplating a normal or conventional extractor fan. Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks.

I don't think an extractor is any easier tbh. It won't have filters to replace, but will still need grease cleaning off it. My parents have one in their kitchen and remove part of the casing to clean it.

An extractor hood generally has a grease filter, which may be plastic foam or paper. The foam ones you can wash in the sink, the paper ones you replace.

Some have a knitted metal mesh which traps the grease and might fit in the dishwasher.

It is pretty easy to remove and clean the filters.

We have one of the knitted mesh ones - fits in the dishwasher and cleans up a dream. It's a neff one - no idea what model though.
