Cost of buying and installing a reclaimed victorian fireplace

We are in the process of buying a victorian terrace in London. Sadly all the original fireplaces were pulled out long ago. The living room currently just has a "hole" where the fireplace would have been, with a mantle piece over the top and a natural slate hearth stone (this is filed with "ornamental" logs and doesn't look too bad actually).

Ideally we would love to install a reclaimed fireplace in the original style - the houses nearby mostly have cast iron surrounds with a line of patterned tile up either side.

Has anyone bought one of these 2nd hand and had them installed? Approx how much did it cost for the whole job? We don't need it to actually be functional, or a new mantle piece but would need all the other "bits" Inc hearth stone etc.

Sorry to go on, and thanks in advance for any replies x

Have a look on ebay. If you're happy to do some cleaning and scrubbing then you can pick up some bargains for under £200.

Take a close look at your neighbours houses and try and match closely the size and design. A register grate with tiles should be able to be found cheaply on ebay - especially if you don't mind stripping paint off. Be careful not to buy one meant for a bedroom which will be too small for the space and look odd. In my own home installation for fully operational cost 350 in London last year. But was worth it for the cosyness at Christmas.

If you don't need it to be functional then you should be able to screw it onto the wall yourself.
