The ultimate bread bin ....does it exist?

I there such as a thing as a large bread bin that looks nice and keeps bread fresh and doesn't have a lift off lid that means you have to peer into it or dig around in it blind?
I need a roll top or drop down type bread bin. My current one is on its last legs and dated as anything, orange pine thing.
Time for me to replace it with something more good looking but equally efficient for holding a loaf, some crumpets, a couple of packets of potato cakes, and inevitably some random chocolate and half finished packet of nuts..
Who has a bread bin that looks good and dies a great job, please?

Love mine which is a drop down cream Typhoon 1950s retro style on legs like a little spaceship. Keeps bread fresh too.

Ah, lizziemint that's a really nice looking bread bin and not mortgage price. Hmmm. Don't know that company. Hope somebody turns up that has it, to review.

The company is good, we've bought things from Scott's before. Not a breadbin though!

Alright, so me not using a bread bin much, I have to ask. I used one years ago (a wooden rolltop one), but the bread went mouldy very quickly in it (much quicker than when it was on the counter). This was store bought bread, still in the package. I detest the bread, crumpets, and such on the counter top, but don't want to invest £40 in a bread bin and find that it only makes my bread mould faster.

So was it likely the bread bin that was the issue? Confused I really would like a nice neat bread bin. Smile

Sounds like your breadbin was harbouring mould spores Alice.

wooden drop front one suits us best, the door doubles as occasional cutting board and you can put things on top too.
