Painting wooden windowbox

I have a wooden window box that I'd like to give a very quick and easy lick of paint to - I really don't want to be spending two weeks doing undercoat and sanding etc, but want it to look nice. Is there anything like Annie Sloan that you can use outside? Or can you use Annie Sloan outside and if so, how do you finish it?

if it is wooden, and full of wet soil, it will rot, and the expansion and shrinkage will crack paint.

Or does it have a waterproof trough inside it, with spacers to allow air to circulate underneath? In which case lots of wood preserver, and a breathing (microporous) paint, will keep it going for a few more years.

I've used Annie Sloan outside, just painted, no special finish at all and it's all survived the winter weather.

Thanks PigletJohn, I think its lifespan may be somewhat limited, which is why a quick slather of paint to keep it looking okay for this summer is the height of my ambition! Southwest that's exactly what I wanted to hear! Thank you!
