emailing for quotes, is it a good idea?

I really hate speaking on the phone. So just mailed the 6 electricians in my town, so much easier as could clearly explain everything and send a photo. However after 3 days only one has replied, and its more than I think the job is worth.

Job shouldn't take more than an hour, 2 hours at the Max just to connect some sockets where the boxes have been laid and wired and the guy is just down the road so 180 does seem steep! Expected 80-130 tbh. Is that wishful?

Ime tradesmen, even those with email addresses, are far easier to get hold on the phone. Good ones will be busy. Bite the bullet and phone them.

I emailed about 5 tradesman who I found through Checkatrade and they all replied within the next couple of days. I was quite impressed with that. All but one also turned up at the time arranged to quote, although I've only had 2 quotes back (since tues/weds). I emailed someone else today and they haven't replied yet but it is Sunday! I don't really like the phone either, feel a bit silly but I never have liked it!

I have no choice, as I can't speak anymore so can't phone - find most people email back eventually !!!

I think my job is a bit too small for them to bother replying. Would only take an hour or so and is local. I thuoiught 50 quid an hour was a very good wage!
