Bathroom places in London

We are gradually working our way through house renovations and bathrooms are next on the list. We live in SE London - any recommendations on London showrooms / builders merchants etc for bathroom fittings…..both to get ideas, and for purchasing things. Can't really decide where to start. I don't mind travelling for the right place.

Not near you but we used Olympic Bathrooms in South Harrow. They also have a branch in Wembley. We found them very helpful and knowledgable and had good quality products. The website is rubbish so you'd really need to visit the showroom. I'm sure there must be good places nearer to you but if you don't have other suggestions and fancy a trip to South Harrow or Wembley I'm putting it out there!

CP Hart in Waterloo is ruddy excellent for pretending you're a posho, and they have a LOT of stuff. They also have a very good discount warehouse out the back - go all the way through the showroom and look for the unassuming door, it's a bit hidden.

Hinton's, on Balls Pond Rd, is a sort of quiet gem. They don't have everything but they're really really lovely, and give very good honest advice, like when the man told me I was insane to be considering buying the incredibly expensive taps I loved - even though they stock them.

Aston Matthews on Essex Rd has a lot of stuff crammed into quite a small space. They also have a discount warehouse, in E3, but I'd only recommend it if you're flexible about what you want - they don't have heaps of stuff, but what they do have is heavily reduced.

We did a lot of browsing, and then shamefully a lot of 'buy it cheaper on ebay'. But the stuff we bought new we bought from Hintons and Aston Matthews - though both Aston Matthews and CP Hart are big ones for 'rebrand as our own label and sell for more' so watch out for that, as you can usually find their 'own brand' stuff cheaper under its real name, eg Aston Matthews baths are actually Kaldewei.

Correction: maybe you ARE a posho, in which case definitely go to CP Hart. I could've spent a LOT of money in there.

LOVE CP Hart. Got our bathrooms from Bathstore. Less loveable but they do the job. Showrooms all over too.

Thank you for suggestions. I've been to CP Hart. I'm not a posho ;) , although to be fair we could have afforded some of their stuff. Unfortunately I blatantly didn't look the part and they made it very clear that they couldn't be arsed….totally didn't engage with me at the time, promised to send follow-up email after a chat and never did etc.

Will check out Hinton and Ashton Matthews.

I guess I'm looking for decent quality without spending stupid money. Our kitchen is a Higham one and fills that brief perfectly….just need the equivalent bathroom iyswim.

Water-loo plumbing in Lee. Doesn't look like much of a place, but it's bigger inside and the people who work there are really wonderful.

Burge and Gunsen in Colliers Wood High Street. That's their showroom, they've also got a trade counter in Morden. They were excellent with their knowledge and advice. And the trade counter guys are very patient if you turn up with a tap or bit of pipe and just ask for the same again!
