Any recommendations for buildings instance for a house that has been flooded

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that will insure a house that has been flooded within the past 10 years?

We are trying to buy our dream house but trying to find an insurance company that will cover for flood damage (needed for the mortgage) is proving challenging!

We had the same problem and unfortunately had to pull out of the purchase because the quote we finally got was so eye-watering. NFU mutual (who currently insure the house) initially refused to quote but were persuaded to, because the house had had a flood risk survey and defences put in place. (Oh, and the house hadn't actually flooded in the last 10 years but was adjacent to water, kind of like a Watermill).
There is (supposedly!) something called Flood Re coming into play this summer which caps the amount of premium which can be added for flood purposes, the maximum it goes to is around £500. Unfortunately, the insurance companies are dragging their heels a bit with it, and we didn't feel confident enough that it would definitely come into practise to go ahead. (For context, the quote we had was over £10,000!).
Try googling specialist flood insurance brokers. Good luck!

Ouch! That is a high quote, I have been contacting different insurers from a google search but no quotes back yet.

The house is not on a flood plain and the flooding was to do more with drainage problems (that the council have dealt with) after a heavy storm so hoping to get something for the £1 - 2k mark

Hope you manage to get something. The house we wanted also wasn't on a flood plain but the next village along did flood badly last year so that seems to rule it out as far as insurance companies are concerned. V frustrating!
