Nobody actually lives in this house ... do they?

And if not, why does EA not mention lack of chain on the particulars?

(or have they and I've missed it?)

But perhaps it is actually possible for people to live in a house like this!

Could you link?

Sorry!

I think it is lived in but seriously cleared and dressed up for the photos. If you look in the attic bedroom picture you can just see into the boxes in the beside units and they look like they have been used to stuff things into to clear everything. Also the piles of magazines on one of the bookcases don't look quite right to be dressing.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/03/2015 23:00

Have I missed something? Do you mean that is clean and tidy and dressed for display? Confused

member · 10/03/2015 23:01

No kids I suspect & maybe a part-time/second home or maybe the wicker hearts bestow tidy vibes!

Unexpected · 10/03/2015 23:03

I have two sets of friends who live in houses like these - beautifully organised, decorated in neutral tones, clear surfaces - the lot. They are all high-earning professionals, so lots of money for cleaners, handymen and decorators - and most importantly, child-free!

Pipbin · 10/03/2015 23:03

Well they were clearly in the garden having a glass of wine just before the photographer turned up. I don't really believe this

samsam123 · 10/03/2015 23:28

lovely staged for sale whats the problem

wowfudge · 10/03/2015 23:28

It has been staged to within an inch of its life. At least they opened the wine, unlike the bottle on the roof terrace in Hove Wink.

It feels like a show home. Where have they put everything?!

Mintyy · 10/03/2015 23:31

Puts me off actually! The wine and the book and the chiminea in the garden just bloody annoy me Grin.

Much prefer this one

I want to live there, it's lovely - bagsie one of the top bedrooms with the cute little windows Grin

Mind you, give my family (especially you, DH, yes, you!) five minutes and it wouldn't be looking like that anymore. The study in the second one is much more like our house!

GinBunny · 10/03/2015 23:49

It looks like an end of tenancy house to me (as ex EA - please don't flame).
Beautiful house and I love Exeter, just wish I could afford half a million on a house Sad

rosieposey · 11/03/2015 00:01

That second one had my old school at the bottom of the road ( and it isnt a very big road!)

The st Leonards one is lovely but then you'd have to live near Katie Hopkins Grin

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 11/03/2015 00:08

I would live in the first one and let the kids live in 2nd one, of course I would visit them and not have them visit me!

sleeplessinderbyshire · 11/03/2015 00:09

The second one looks really cluttered and as if no one has bothered to tidy up for the photos. First one us how my husband would live if the kids didn't run rings round him making mess! I think first one is lovely and is how the majority of houses seem to look in EA particulars these days

wowfudge · 11/03/2015 00:13

The second one you could put your own stamp on with the clutter and dated furniture gone. I quite like the wood and lime green kitchen, but what's going on in the bathroom?

It might have been state of the art in 1975, but it isn't anymore.

echt · 11/03/2015 07:21

I think the second one is lovely; it's easy to see past the clutter, though the wooden bathroom is a bit odd. It has character.

The first is not very nice at all.

Amrapaali · 11/03/2015 07:36

Is that the cloakroom leading off from the kitchen? In the first one? Would seriously put me off.

Imagine baking something fragrant and a family member with the dodgiest tummy decides to use the downstairs loo.... Eurghhh! Grin

Mintyy · 11/03/2015 09:24

Yes, showing the door open to the downstairs lavvy from the kitchen is a bit odd in such a poncetastic set of pictures!

I love the first one and someone definitely lives there. My house is as tidy.

I don't like the second one too cluttered and old fashioned. Plus hideous kitchen and bathroom.

Zinxie · 11/03/2015 09:52

That second house is gorgeous! The road itself is lovely too, and the blurb says nearby river walks.

Got House Love, I have, now.

The first one was sterile and very Debenhams, not my cup of tea.

wowfudge · 11/03/2015 10:02

It's not a cloakroom off a kitchen - it's the basement which has a bedroom, the utility room and a showeroom from the floor plan.

Mrscog · 11/03/2015 10:08

I love the first one! Wish I could make my house look like that! Unlikely given the 1980's room sizes, pre-schooler and lack of budget. Might pin some inspiration though :D

Tapwater · 11/03/2015 10:19

Agreed, Zinxie. The first house looks like those little room interior mock-ups you get in not very high-end shops to try to make you buy matchy-matchy table settings or over-varnished furniture. It looks bland, cheap and corporate, as if it was designed by a committee of robots programmed with 'show home good taste'. The black leather-effect dining chairs and the fur throws are particularly nasty.

But this seems to be the look that EAs advise sellers to adopt these days. God knows who it actually appeals to.
