Corner hob - yes or no...?

As part of discussions relating to our new kitchen extension, the idea of a siting the hob in the corner of the L-shape arose.
I quite like the idea, but am looking for the collective wisdom of Mumsnet to give me some pointers either way.
I know we'll lose some base unit storage, and we'll need a ceiling rather than a wall-mounted extractor but is there anything else I should be aware of?
How easy / practical is it to access salt/sauces/herbs if they are stored on the 'triangle' in the actual corner? Should we create a raised triangle?
Is it look practice to site a base unit oven in a corner...?
TIA all!

Unless the wall in the corner is actually like the one in picture, isn't just a wasteful use of space and you won't get as much storage? Am I missing something?

The loss of storage is my main concern. It would be nice to create a kind of ’curve’ though, so more thinking, and costing up standard corner units and carousels is required.

I have my hob in the corner but not at an angle. It is a standard L shaped kitchen, the double oven is in a tower. We had a slight issue with the join in the worktop and kitchen fitter was slightly surprised but really works for me.

I think it can look slightly old fashioned to have it on an angle but having said that it can be a good use of space as corner base units are a bit of a pain.

I think you need to careful if you're having gas having things placed behind.

I have to agree with Mandy having the whole oven set in a corner looks dated to me. Unless you really have to have it there I would try to plan it set in a run or housed in full height.

You mentioned it is L shaped so you do not need it to fit into the angle? It could prove a pain with doors either side not to mention re positioning of units which can add further expense.
