To view before putting home on the market

I'm a few weeks we are having a final bit of paintwork done to tidy our home before putting it on the market. Is it bad form or even disappointing to look at other things before then.
Obviously I'm doing loads of zoopla dreaming!

No. It will help you get an idea what's out there.

It just means you're not in a position to move quickly if you see a house you love.

We did this, although it was not our original intention but I happened to be browsing RM when I noticed a house I'd kind of fallen for a few months previously had a sale fallen through and was re-available.

House was a real one-off and we just had to view it - also it was 150 miles away in an area we weren't acquainted with so we wanted to confirm whether moving there was right for us.

We arranged a viewing despite knowing our own project house was a few weeks away from being finished and typically we decided it was the one!

That was end of July. Ours hit the market 1st Sept after we went crazy plastering/decorating etc and we accepted an offer five weeks later. Fortunately the house was still available - market there was somewhat slow - and our offer was accepted a couple of days later. We moved in the week before Christmas.

So it can work out! GL with your sale.....

Yes, definitely. I did this last summer for a month or so to make sure there were houses we might want to move to for our budget as we didn't need to move, just wanted to upsize if it was affordable.

Obviously the houses you like now might be gone by the time you are under offer but it's all good research and you then have the potential to move quickly if you go under offer quickly.

We started looking last July, put our ours on the market beginning of Sept, went under offer November and offered on a house we'd seen in July. Our vendors found their house in early January, hoping to complete end of the month or so.
