New quartz worktop... how to stop the smearing?

New worktop installed, a very expensive slab of quartz. I had tested the sample in all sorts of ways to check it wouldn't stain or have water marks. However, the actual worktop is a bit of a nightmare to keep looking clean without buffing it every bloody time I drip a bit of water on it! Aggggh! Is there anything I can do or use to prevent this happening? Please help me wise people!

We have a polished stone workshop. The guys that fitted it said you could get all sorts of fancy cleaners but the best thing was actually diluted washing up liquid in a squirty bottle, and a tea towel to shine .
I don't think there's anything that prevents it though....

I have these sort of tops in black, I find Method granite cleaner is very good. I clean the tops with hot soapy clean water from the sink first with a microfibre cloth to pick up any crumbs and grease from cooking, then I go over all the tops when dry with the method cleaner and kitchen roll and buff dry. The method cleaner is also good for a spot clean.

I also have a kartcher window cleaner and that does an amazing job of polishing it all up. Again I use it after a full soapy wash down. You don't want to get your kartcher greasy.

Once in a while I use a specialist cleaner by silestone, which is about more complicated to use but resurfaces the tops and makes them deep black again.

They are not easy too look after. Especially near the sink as any water left laying around here leaves more stubborn water marks.

I spray with a normal cleaning spray then buff with a tea towel which brings up a nice shine but it lasts about 10 seconds till it gets the first drop of water on it!

i had exactly this problem in my old house, we had plain black quartz (such an error in hindsight). I tried all kinds of things until i discovered Worktop Wonder from Lakeland. It was the only thing that worked, I can't recommend it highly enough - it got rid of every water mark and smear and brought it up looking like new.

Method granite cleaner & a dishcloth.
Followed by glass ecloth. Works really well.

Thanks all. Will try your ideas and see how I get on. Honestly though I swear they must have treated the sample piece of quartz with something that prevented water marks! I was really concerned as our water here is so hard. Oh well, I guess all the buffing is good for the bingo wings?!
