Are copper baths cold?

Cos they looking fricking amazing and I'm in lust over them but they are ridiculously £££ and I'm worried if e had one it would be cold very quickly. In my old, cold house.

And if they are cold, are cast iron ones any better or really would acrylic be the best? I'd really like a freestanding bath with a solid plinth base but dithering over which type.

cast iron is very heavy, so the large mass of metal absorbs a lot of heat from the water. I would not have one again.

Is the copper bath solid, or plated? Copper is quite a soft metal.

You will need to put aside half an hour a day to polish it.

A copper bath is on my wish list too! I have nothing helpful to add though sorry.

We had an old cast bath and it did suck the heat out the water but once the bath was hot the water stayed hot longer!

Had one in a hotel. Looked amazing but was awful to lie in and no ledge for shampoos, wine etc. Can't remember about being cold but I defiantly wouldn't have one.

Haven't had a copper one, but have had several cast iron roll tops and imho the water does stay warmer for longer than an acrylic one.

Our last roll top was a very thick gauge, expensive acrylic - it always felt cold to the touch and the water got cold extremely quickly.

Will be getting either another cast iron or a copper free standing bath for this house - unfortunately the bathroom put in by the PO is in pretty good nick and good quality, so won't be for a while yet. Not bothered about lack of shelving - I have a small table by the bath to put wine, candle, book etc!

I used a copper bath in a hotel and the water seemed to stay hot the same length of time as it would in an acrylic. The bath was so big though that I couldn't lie down it it, but I am quite short!

We have a cast iron bath and I haven't noticed the water getting colder any quicker than in an acrylic bath, the bath itself seems to get nice and warm.
