On the Market - getting ready for viewings

If you are on the market, what mad dash jobs do you do when the estate agent calls to request a viewing?

I am naturally untidy and always have something better to do that housework. This house market is really tough to stay is a state of readiness.

I need a list.

Here are a few ideas I have, assuming the house is already reasonably clean and tidy, laundry up to date etc.

  • Change the bedding in the master bedroom (I have two new sets).
  • Smooth out beds in children's rooms
  • Switch towels in the bathrooms
  • Hide bedroom and bathroom clutter
  • Spot-clean bathrooms (they are thoroughly cleaned twice a week)
  • Thoroughly clean kitchen.
  • Throw out dead flowers and replace if time.
  • Vacuum
  • Sweep front door step and make sure there is no litter in the front.
  • Clear dog poo from back.

Any other ideas?

you look like you have covered it all! Open doors and windows just to freshen up - might be a doggy smell which you wont notice but someone who isn't a doggie person might notice it?
Check loos don't need flushing............

Tidy more important that spotlessly clean. Don't waste time changing beds, make them and smooth covers / fluff pillows. Get and stay tough on clutter. Put as much into wardrobes / under beds as possible. Flush loos. We had about 20 odd viewings over 10 days and there's no way I could have managed cleaning or bed chamging for all of them. The house sold in those 10 days.

If you have a car outside fill a washing basket with last minute de-cluttering and shove it in the boot.

To hide the ironing pile, lift the duvet lay all the clothes across the bed, then shake duvet well and place over the top, things can also be placed under the pillows, it makes them look very plumped remember to remove said clothing before your DH tries to get into bed and asks what the hell you've do Grin

polishing my halo I am washing every day now, so it is always ironed and put away before I do the school run.

I'm wondering why I put up with years of overflowing laundry baskets Grin.

The dog and her basket go in the car. I hope we sell the house before the weather gets hot.
