Just got out of an awful separation and court case, I have a 2 year old dc, feel so raw and need to leave Bristol and start afresh. I moved here for love from Cornwall, but i can't go that far because of contact arrangements . I currently live in a very arty, crafty, lovely neighbourhood and want to find that by the sea. Anyone got any suggestions? I am a working artist. I need to leave this bad juju behind and smell sea air and feel the big sky above me.

I suppose up to 3 hours away,
it's the specific 'feel' of a place i want to replicate, iykwim. I just don't know where to start. I'm looking for people's experience of specific towns/villages/areas.
I run, so coastal paths would be good, and my dc is very active and outdoorsy so stuff for children. It's hard to put my finger on. I want a woodburner, a fat daft cat, walks on the beach and like minded people, er, is it a bit pie in the sky? I own my own house with no mortgage so am free in that way.
I look on rightmove and save loads of likely properties, but they are all over the place, with no knowledge of the area. I want to collect driftwood, make sculpture, a good friendly pub, a workshop. Oh, I don't know!

The beautiful South Hams - stunning coast paths, loads of outdoorsy stuff for DC, fab towns - e.g. Totnes and cute villages with dreamy homes and woodburners aplenty.

We live in North devon. Lots of fab walks on the beach, collecting driftwood, sitting by the fire in the local pub. Lots of craft shops to sell art work. Only 2hours from Bristol. Can be crazy in the summer but I inagine all tourist areas are the same.

Thanks snow - i just need something good, after all the horribleness of the last year.

Ooh, no, no, go to St Davids. The biggest sky, the artiest 'city', the wildest seas. Bliss.

You can get to Cornwall in under 3 hours :-) don't rule it out! Amazing place to bring up kids and feel part of a community.
