So if a new bath won't fit up the stairs...

What the buggery do I do?

Our cheap nasty bath has got a crack in it

Before we bought the house the stairs were moved and twisted to fit in a new lot up to the attic

We know this is a problem as the sellers left behind two large chests of drawers. When we tried to remove them we realised they no longer fit around the bend in the stairs

We're going to have the same problem with a bath

There are two windows but they're both too small

Flat pack bath? Manufacture on in situ? I really can't think of a solution to this problem Confused

Would a fancy big shower be nice instead ? Room outside for a hot tub to soak in ?!?!

wowfudge · 24/02/2015 22:22

Could you get a bath in through a bedroom window and take it through to the bathroom?

I like your flat pack bath idea OP.

I once saw a bath that was just made from tiles. A bit like the linked but a tiled wall instead of the glass.

I believe it was lined with a plastic sheet or something that would be used in swimming pools? Can't remember but might work!

PrincessPilolevuofTONGA · 24/02/2015 23:09

My heart dunk at the thought of plastic bags but then soared when I saw the invisible bath!

Hmm I really do want a bath. I'm a bath person and have small kids

Bedroom window possible but it would have to come out - they don't open enough and are nasty plastic which I'm not sure are easy to remove. Never mind the hoisting necessary.

Perhaps I should have an inflatable birth pool. Or paddling pool.

Found it! This is the one I saw years ago.

and love the poncetastic comment about "The toys form colourful accents against the Italian mosaic bath tiles."

PrincessPilolevuofTONGA · 24/02/2015 23:24

Well they're not on a water meter are they? And their water pressure must be far superior to mine. It'd be cold before it was an inch deep with my shit boiler

this is my ponctastic dream bath. There are a few problems other than the stairs to overcome what with the £5k price tag. And my bathroom being 2x3m of prime council estate...

yes it is enormous. but you wouldn't have to get your kids swimming lessons!

But seriously - that on a smaller scale could work and look cool

Your dream bath tub wouldn't fit up my stairs either!!

RaisingSteam · 24/02/2015 23:28

I don't think taking a window or even just the opening section out is too hard - they are just held in with a few screws and some sealant.
Any fancy bath will cost ££'s more than half a day's work for a glazing crew.

TeddyBee · 24/02/2015 23:31

Small bath - unless your stairs are really crooked you'll be fine. We have a double turn with the loft
stairs over it and got a 1500mm bath in easily.

Have you tried removing the banisters? Dh had to remove ours to get furniture upstairs.

treesntrees · 25/02/2015 21:32

we had to remove a window to get a bed in. It took minutes by our builder who used a plaster lift to raise the bed high enough for him to grab it and pull it the rest of the way with a helper. like Raisingsteam said it just takes a screwdriver and some sealant - less work than removing the bannisters.
