Our local homebase is sutting down and had the remnants massivly reduced.

I got over excited and grabbed lots of tins of farrow and ball.

our kitchen is being done and i'll have to paint all the cabinets, but the lovely gray i bought 2 tins of i now realise is full gloss. this will look wrong won't it?

Should be ok if you get your prep right. Apply with a gloss roller.
Your bigger problem will be keeping it looking nice and glossy.

So if the base cabinets are glossy do the top ones need to be too do you think?

You can use your gloss outside as well if you decide it is not the look you want for your kitchen. Most kitchen companies use eggshell on hand painted kitchens. It will be hard to achieve a flawless glossy look.

You dont mention if the cupboard doors ect are solid wood. Some cabinets look like a wood but are in fact a plastic covering over mdf.You need to put on a plastic primer paint for these. If I were to paint this type I would use an areo sol or spray gun. I dont think like the other poster the gloss will turn out well. It may very well get a lot of dust on it in the time it takes gloss to dry.If you dont like the idea of spraying them why not try roller and prime then use water based sheen?
