Calling all Tech Geeks - New build and phone sockets

We moved into a new build over a month ago. The BT Openreach master socket was recently installed in a cupboard - as always seems to be the case with new builds. There are other phone sockets around the house that I guess are not really connected yet.

How do you connect those sockets to the master socket? There seem to be wires that are obviously meant for these sockets, I believe. Who normally connects these to the master socket? I mean, people don't have their phone in a cupboard, right?

We lived in a new build flat before, and we actually had our main phone IN THE CUPBOARD. Shock

Or are there other phones out there these days that have a "receiver" in the cupboard and phones scattered around the house?

If you get a cordless phone you can have multiple handsets anywhere in the house, but you shouldn't need to do that!

What do those wires look like? Do you mean the extension sockets have wires coming out of the wall with bare wire / a plug on the end? Seems bizarre for developer to fit sockets but not connect.

Why wouldnt they be connected though?.

Hmm, if your house is finished and you've moved in it seems bizarre to assume that sockets fitted onto the wall aren't connected to anything? Do you assume the same for electrical sockets?

Why not plug the phone into all these other sockets and see if you get a dial tone?
