Water leaking through ceiling... Help!

Dp had a very long shower (around 40minutes!).
We now have water dripping through the ceiling from the bathroom onto the new boiler. We are insured so I rung British Gas who can't come out till tomorrow. Fair enough. I asked what I was supposed to do all night to protect the boiler and he couldn't advise me!

Dp is stood on the kitchen worktop with a bowl but he can't stay there all night. We think the water is coming to be from under the bath where it is draining from shower. British gas said we didn't need to turn the water off as it didn't sound like that was affecting it. How we I protect my new boiler? It's had water leaking on it directly for about 30mins before we noticed!

What can I do?

When water drips through a ceiling, the best thing is to punch holes through the ceiling with a pencil or skewer (this is not a joke). It enables the water to drain away quickly, and in places of your choice where you can place a bucket. Try a hole above your sink or draining board which will be even better.

Put a large plastic thing, such as a bin-bag, over the top of the boiler to act as an umbrella.

The casing is probably quite resistant to water entry. I would tend to leave it running all night, with the radiators on low, so it will be warm enough to keep dry. Obviously if water gets inside and it starts sparling, turn it off.

If you have an RCD protecting the electrical circuit that feeds it, it will almost certainly cut off in the event of water touching an electrical part.
