am I being impatient or is the property market quiet?

I think I had more 'for sale notification' emails in Dec than I've had this year.

I'm in North Hampshire and desperate to move out of our shoebox.

Also a frustrated house hunter here. See other thread about me being seriously fed up! Very slow since last summer in the 350-400 ish price bracket. High prices for anything nice due in part to lack of supply... People not accepting offers. But I have noticed a lot of properties coming on at the bottom end and being reduced in price. Not sure what that indicates.

No 'for sale' signs here in W London. Unusual.

Bit of interesting reading www.home.co.uk/company/press/the_central_london_house_price_bubble_bursts.htm

I always assumed Easter weekend is when most properties are coming up on the market.
Do your own searches and see what comes up (their system may have glitch Smile)

We're looking in the same area Meg and there is just nothing in our budget. The property papers are barely worth wiping your arse on! Full of desperate little 70s estates or millionaires row with paddocks and detached garages.

Everything looks overpriced too.

The bit of south Yorkshire where I am is doing really well. Mine sold in 2 days in February, and lots of houses with sold signs in the last 2 months. Not seen many news ones coming up though since then.

Seems stronger in the midlands/north east. I'm told Bristol is going great guns too. I'm not surprised London is cooling, it was crazy last year.

Desperate to move too in n London and not getting much interest in ours. Going to wait until after Easter and ge to consider price drop though as ea seem to think things always flatten in run up to ge.
I've stopped looking as again won't be taken seriously. Just hope that something nice is available when we sell!
General view from ea's seem to be some are selling v fast other lingering and no one can tell why.

I was concerned about our price being high until a whole block of 2 bedroom flats were put on at the same price a little down the road in a worse location. Ours also has a garden and they haven't.

meglet · 22/03/2015 09:02

YAso the property pages are dwindling down to nothing. maybe easter will pep things up.

I'll admit I'm looking in a specific estate, so only about 6 roads to choose from, but you'd think someone would budge! There was a higher turnover last year when our chain collapsed.

This little lancashire town is officially 'deprived'.
Sold my old house last autumn for a realistic price and accepted a bit lower offer to get rid as it was coming into winter. From what I could see, houses priced ok were selling. Others of similar size for higher prices sit on the market for years.
put me in a good position with no chain, to get a much bigger house on far better street at the best end of the town (all manchester commuters this side so prices higher) . According to all the ea I was the only person viewing anything that forst week od December, timing was perfect to get this house which had been recently reduced as seller inherited it and just wanted their money.
completed end jan
but omg I was so lucky with the timings. Since 1st Jan houses on decent streets have 'sold' boards up within a couple of weeks of going on the market and even a lot of the cheaper ones are selling.
I cant get out of the habit of checking the ea windows and anything new is at least 20% more than this time last yr.
so maybe the bubble hast burst on the unsustainable London property market, but other parts of the country are starting to feel more confident?

Problem is house price increases we have had over the past years have come from the back of London, I would hazard a guess that London and the south east will have price stagnation this year, whilst midlands will see increases as it's next nearest affordable place to London, North East and west will be pretty stagnate with price increases but the north hasn't been affected with ridiculous price rises over the years
