Useful info for our buyer

I'm currently writing a 'useful information' sheet to leave for the lady buying our house. I saw it done somewhere (can't remember where - probably pinterest) and thought it was a nice idea.

Anyway, if you were moving to a new area, what would you want to know? So far I have info about where to get cheap bus tickets, recommendations for local take-aways and tips for coping with our hill in the snow.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious...

Bin day, recycling , any alternate collection schedules.
Local gp , dentist etc

SpecialHandsMummy · 02/02/2015 21:33

Definitely label all the keys

CakeMakesMeHappy · 02/02/2015 21:57

Where the stop cock is!!

wowfudge · 02/02/2015 21:59

Where the local tip is. Details of local tradesmen you've used for work on the house and would recommend.

Do they have a young family? Playgroups and toddler activities or coffee mornings. Child friendly restaurants in the area.

You lovely person!

Definitely some takeaway menus for their first night.

I agree re bin days, maybe add in arrangements for green waste collection, if you have that? We inherited underfloor heating and whilst the people left the manual a short note on how to sort it out might have been easier.
Although not for a note, it would have been nice if the people before us had defrosted the freezer and cleaned out the almost totally blocked shower (full of hair!)

Ewwwww redcar!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Unfortunately we don't have green waste. Stupid green council with all their wonderful ideals and zero capacity to actually put any of it effectively into practice Wink

A reminder of Utility providers and bin day!

Nearest pharmacy, any good local shops, favourite restaurant/take outs
Decent gym
Any key local events or good places to visit

Also all of the manuals for any white goods you're leaving, the oven, how the heating system works, alarm details and neighbours' names.

Good luck in the new place too. Hope you'll be very happy there.

Any quirks of the house eg "cupboard under the stairs, you need to pull the door handle in order to lock it"

An odd one, but our sellers left a list of all the paint colours they'd used, in case we wanted to do any touching up (was clearly something they had handy they didn't do it specially for us!)

Our sellers left a bottle of bubbles in the fridge for us, a note on bin collection days, details of local dump and some caddy liners. They also left spare bulbs and spare loo roll. We were obviously lovely buyers and they were lovely sellers Grin. I've heard of sellers pulling up carpet, taking all bulbs (the ones in the light fittings!) and basically taking everything which could be dismantled! Shock

How to work the heating & a reminder to switch it on the moment they move in so they are warm on the first night!
