onthemarket.com - dead in the water?

www.onthemarket.com

From what I've read this is a new property website to rival Rightmove and Zoopla cooked up by some of the posh top-end estate agents.

Mega Down sides are that any agent who lists on Onthemarket is then only allowed to list on EITHER rightmove OR Zoopla NOT both!!!

Go Figure!!!

Also they have banned online estate agents like Housenetwork ... ha ha ha - GO Figure!!!

I hope they've got deep pockets and long arms because they have just pissed all their money up against the wall.

I can't see any hope for this desperate attempt to preserve the existing estate agency business model.

Only one house listed within a 3 mile radius of me.

I wouldn't list with any agent who used them if the agent can't then list my house with both Zoopla and Rightmove - Bonkers - waste of time.

I'll be interested to see what happens. I'm looking at the moment and the new site gives me 5 houses for a search criteria that RM gives me 71 for, and oddly only one house from an agent I know is selling several, so I don't know if the criteria is a bit weird. Another is listed by an agent I've never heard of, and I've been looking in and around the area on and off for five years.

Personally, we're going on the market next month and I wouldn't touch an agent that wouldn't put my house on RM.

Zoopla stills seems to be there despite onthemarket being around. At the present time, OTM seems to be getting little in the way of enquiries, we are glad to still be advertising on Rightmove and Zoopla. If you are selling or letting a property this is where you need to be.

All the agents local to us prioritise Rightmove though it seems most also advertise on OTM because they don't think Zoopla is up to much. I don't know for sure, but didn't RM have first mover advantage in all of this? Zoopla irritates me because it's valuations are usually way off the mark.
