Soft close toilet seat

I'm thinking of getting one to replace the current bog standard (pardon the pun, couldn't resist) loo seat which has a crack in the lid. The toilet is an Armitage Shanks - part of a 'take it away today' suite from somewhere like B&Q.

Is there anything I need to bear in mind in terms of fixings and fitting a soft close toilet seat? I don't want to spend the money and find the thing isn't a good fit or is loose.

They fit just the same. Just make sure you get one that's the same shape as your bowl.

Great but warning - you will end up dropping other people's toilet seats and wincing as they crash down, forgetting they are not soft close!

Poppy is right - I'm forever slamming down the toilet seats at work. Confused

I slammed a friend's toilet seat down so hard, her husband knocked to ask if I was OK Grin

I like mine more than I thought I would, but that extra 2 seconds feels like forever when you're desperate.

Could you please explain Titchy?!

I have one and I agree with Titchy - if someone else has left the seat up, you have to wait till it goes down before you can sit! And mine takes longer than a couple of seconds! Luckily DH is well-trained, so I only have that problem if a visitor leaves it up.

Now I understand. Thanks all.
