Has anyone done a loft conversion which involved raising the roof?

We are just in the early stages of thinking about doing the loft but the roof height is too low. We are in the SE so although I realise that raising the roof would be v expensive, the increase in house price would be nearly worth it. Has anyone done it? Was it a nightmare to get through planning and roughly how much did it cost?

Has anyone successfully completed their loft conversion where they had low height loft? If so can you give me the names of reputable companies. Thanks so much

We had a Moduloft. Could not fault this team. No architect needed ~ their specialists deal with every aspect from plans, planning permission, cranes and build, zip up to building control sign off. We had roof ridge raised by 1-3m and had no drama as they know what the relevant planning rules are. Massive new floor to the house and very pleased with it. Moduloft are the company to go with. And no they are absolutely not faceless.

We dropped the ceilings in a bungalow which actually worked out a lot better because it was a semi detached. I absolutely would not do it again though I would move house next time.

Should also have added I opted to gain ceiling height on the first floor using the underside of the new trusses. Has made upstairs rooms taller. Although you can retain existing ceilings upstairs for this method also to cause less disruption. Took 2 weeks end to end. Would definitely do again. Quicker and Cost less than messy builders onsite for months on end walking through house. Very happy with Moduloft.
