Bauhaus vanity unit, cast mineral sink & other bathroom advice please

Hallo folks, first time poster here. I'm re-fitting a bathroom and need a vanity unit for storage. Trouble is I dislike most vanity units & the one that I do like - Bauhaus celeste www.bauhaus-bathrooms.co.uk/category/celeste-american-walnut/ is £££.

So looking for help to make sure I don't make an expensive mistake. Has anyone out there got this vanity unit, or has any other Bauhaus one?

Also the sink is cast mineral marble which I've never had- does anyone have a sink like this, do they last, are they easy to clean?

Any help much appreciated.

We have the Essence anthracite range. Have had it for over 2 years now and still looks great.

Many thanks, that's good to hear. Must admit I like the anthracite as well. Bathrooms are tricky!

I have a bauhaus design vanity unit and it is lovely - no regrets. I dont have the cast mineral marble sink, i have a ceramic sink with it.

Thanks Pashmina696, that's reassuring. Can I ask, was there any particular reason you went with a ceramic sink or was that just the sink that came with your particular design?

I wanted the magdelena 2 countertop sink and i felt it was a better match to my other sanityware in the bathroom. The bauhaus range is really flexible so its all pretty mix and match.

Thank you. Anyone else got a cast mineral marble sink?

Bit of a late response but I have to say I would avoid any veneered vanity unit like that one because as soon as the veneer chips it cannot be repaired and you have to live with it. A friend spent on similar vanity units a year ago and they are chipped already.

I'd get your builder to build something in wood which you can paint and repaint when needed - not quite as smart a look to start with but longer term will be smarter than chipped veneer! And more updateable if the veneer goes out of fashion.

Thanks - and don't worry about being late- we're putting in a whole new bathroom and DH & I will take ages to decide what we're doing!

That's worrying though - do you know if the chips were caused by children/pets/just general wear & tear? Our kitchen units are a mixture of solid wood & veneer and they've been fine which is why I ask. Anyone else had this problem?

I think painted units look good in period houses but not so keen on them in modern, which ours is. May have to reconsider gloss units -though they may have the same problem? Was also worried they would date.

Decision, decisions.

I don't know what caused the chip. Just general daily life I think - dropping something on the edge of the door when it's open, something like that. Gloss would have the same issue ... basically anything that has a surface layer you can't repair. But if your kitchen veneer has been ok then perhaps my friend has just been unlucky.

Painted doesn't have to look period-y IMO - we have painted built in cupboards in our bathroom and they are a modern style (very plain shaker style) with modern metal handles.

Hi ApostropheS, Did you ever get your Bauhaus cast mineral basin? Just going through exactly the same dilemma and any advice would be appreciated please! Very worried it might be a nightmare to clean but it looks lovely!
