Trent College & where to live

We're hoping for my daughter to start Trent College this September. We're relocating from overseas and have no idea about the areas surrounding the college. Does anyone's kids go there, or do you live in the area and can offer suggestions? I'd be most grateful for any help ????

We are moving to Nottingham this summer and are going through exactly the same as you.

Our girls will go to Nottingham Girls' High School and DH works in Beeston. My favourite location in The Park in the city centre, but the chances of an affordable house coming onto the market are slim.

We are looking in Woolaton, which is fairly easy for Trent College, being close to the A52, and also South of the river - Beeston, Wilford Village, Chilwell and West Bridgford. I believe the suburbs west of this area, so close to Trent are Bramcote, Attenborough, Long Eaton which all look good.

My strategy at the moment is to look along the new tram routes, as public transport is important to us. I am keeping a close eye on Wilford Village as it has it's own tram stop so the girls can get to school, it's close to DH's work, has a pub, church and is really quiet.

Hi there

We've lived in Derby all our lives and there's a bus that runs along through Spondon and Borrowash in Derby through Long Eaton which is where Trent College is. Borrowash and Draycott are nice desirable villages with small shops, pubs and Indian restaurants and you do get quite a lot of house for your money. Borrowash does have a large area of ex council housing which is great value but not as naice as the south side of Nottigham Road. Spondon is technically a village but I'd say it's become more a suburb. It's around 7-8 miles from Trent College I reckon.

I'm not sure if there's a school bus from Borrowash and Spondon areas but the Y5 and Indigo are service buses which pass right by the college and there would be around 5 buses an hour. Borrowash is around 4 miles from J25 of the M1.

Wollaton area of Nottingham has some lovely big houses and Wollaton Hall is a beautiful free country park. It's very near the QMC for employment and has great road links for the A52 and M1.

Trent College was a school my parents considered for my brother, before he got accepted to a v good comp, but certainly 10 years ago it was very nice although did expect students in on a Saturday morning much to his disgust!

Around Trent collage has some lovely houses but schools generally in long eaton aren't great. Just incase you have other DC.

Beeston has a little town centre and there are some good houses in Beeston and Chilwell.

Attenborough is lovely and right on the nature reserve, very nice.

Wollaton has nice houses and Wollaton park but not near Trent collage so I guess it depends how near you want to be.

Toton is a bit like legoland with houses but very good schools.

Worth looking at Breaston and Draycott, lovely villagey feel.

The tram is being built into Beeston and will run straight to QMC hospital and into town.

Fuga - The Park is very expensive. The tram from Beeston will go to the Boy's High School, she'll need to walk a few minutes down the road to get to the Girl's High School. Ds is at the Boy's and it's an absolute pain in the mornings at the moment, the traffic is a nightmare but it will be a lot better once the tram is finally up and running (I hope).

Borrowash is lovely, or Ockbrook (there's a private girls school here too), there's lots of fields's so would be possible for a horse Wink

We have a flat in the Park and it is such a lovely place to live. We are willing to downsize to get a place there but the right properties change hands infrequently. I like being close to St Nic's Church. I imagine we will end up in Wilford Village or Chilwell, even as a stepping stone until we find a place in the Park.

We've had lots of visits to NGHS (they have an intensive recruitment process) and love the tram.

I used to live near the Park and used to walk through into town and spot my dream houses.

No where near Trent collage mind. Don't live anywhere that involves driving through the tram works.

I had my eye on a house in the Park. I'd have to win the lottery first Grin

I'm Bramcote(ish). It's Ok, traffic is a PITA though and it could do with a decent coffee shop.

Theveryhungrycaterpillar123 · 19/01/2015 23:27

You have the cheesecake shop? Not that I've been there for years, so what do I know!

Chilwell high road has some nice little cafés.

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 19/01/2015 23:36

Not on this side of the road Sad
