Spray painting?

Faced with the mammoth task of painting our new house, I´m looking for any hints and tips to speed things up and improve the finish. It´s on freshly skimmed walls, so know I´ll need a couple of skim coats before the emulsion. Getting a professional in is unfortunately not in the budget, so has to be diy.... Has anyone ever hired an airless sprayer to paint internally? It looks fast but I´m a little nervous about it... No floors down or skirting etc on yet so I could make a bit of mess without it being a big disaster! Worth a shot???

I, and many other people, have looked into it, but I have not found any amateur who thinks it would be a good idea. You have to clear the room and mask off doors, windows, lightswitches and lamps, and clean off all overspray afterwards, and you would have to do all the walls and ceilings in the same colour.

Preparation time would be the same.

You would have to hire a large airless sprayer and learn to use it.

It is sometimes done in large industrial buildings where the operators are very skilled and nobody minds drips, runs, and patches of dull or mismatched texture.

Once you have got the walls prepared, a roller is very fast, and you can put three coats on the ceiling and walls of a room in a day if you work hard.
