Can you recommend an interior decorator?

Hi, we moved house a couple years ago into a house that needed to be completely redecorated. My husband and I have been painting and have discovered that while we can do the painting ourselves we are absolutely hopeless at choosing colours and have subsequently had to re-paint several rooms when we finish and realise we've made a mistake! We have accepted that we need help! We were hoping to hire someone to come in for a consultation to help us pick colours and give us advice. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Farrow and Ball do home consultations - about £200 I think.

You could try manning interiors. Really helpful and give good advice on colours. They can also carry out works as well. Based in SE London but with overground it's easy to get to Hackney.

Hope the link worka

John lewis do this too. They offer a first session free in store and then they can come to you if needed. I found the free session v helpful.

You can find pro's on Houzz - there's a button search and you can put your location in too !

Grin at the op not specifying where she lives. Is there an assumption everyone on here lives in London Grin

Blackeyez09 · 14/01/2015 21:38

Problem is in majority of cases it is true Grin

There's quite a few designers who work remotely via their websites I think nowadays ?! But I presume you'd need to email them lots of photos etc ?!?! Helpful for those not in a major city ?!

Think that someone can only give advice if they visit you, to be honest. Dulux have interior design franchisees around the country so they should have one for you (check their website, maybe) but if you want to use a more designer brand then they might not be right as they'd only spec Dulux....
